With an aim to encourage and engage youth of the region in a constructive way, the Indian Army organised an ‘Inter-School Cricket League’ at Reasi Sports Stadium.
This has presented a significant platform for talent identification and strengthen the relationship between Men in Uniform and youth. Sports participation has always been a platform for friendship amongst participants as well as the organizers of the event.
Four teams from four Higher Secondary schools of remote and far flung areas of Reasi District participated in a league cum knock-out championship from 09 to 13 February 2019.
The team from Government High School Talwara Zone was eventually adjudged the champion after beating team of Government High School Kambal Danga Reasi in a keenly contested match. The cricket league was a crowd puller resulting in huge audience from the region.
It was heartening to see the teams participate with zeal and enthusiasm, displaying high quality of sportsmen spirit. Over 600 children and locals turned up to witness the match.
Major General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force, was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.
He complimented the locals for making the event a grand success and was convinced that such events help in honing the hidden talent of the state while enhancing the coordination and synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and the AWAM.
