IGP inaugurates 6th Christmas T20 Cricket Championship

JAMMU, DEC 5: Dr S D Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) today inaugurated ‘6th Christmas T20 Cricket Championship’ in presence of Fr Kuriakose (Chairman Christian Sports Organization), Amritpal Singh (SP City), Rajesh Gill (Chief Prosecuting Officer), Sham Kalsotra, Mohan Lal, Arjun Choudhary, Pastor Robin Saberwal, Lazar Kandayara, Dy SP Varun Jandial, AEE Sudhir Singh, Asif Gill, David Mattoo, William Mattoo, Anand Tripathi, Sunil Sambyal, Sahil Sharma and Sunny Gill.
Organized jointly by Christian Sports Organization Jammu, Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu, the objective of the championship is to involve youth in sports for keeping them away from drugs.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Jammu lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for holding the event.
In the inaugural match, KC Sports Club defeated Kashmir-XI by 7 wickets. Batting first, Kashmir-XI scored 135 runs for loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Mushtaq (40 runs) and Aijaz (20 runs) were the main scorers for Kashmir-XI. In reply, KC Sports Club chased the target in just 16.5 overs by losing 3 wickets. Vivek, who took 3 wickets, was declared as the Man of the Match. While in another match, Raja Warriors defeated Saffron Cricket Club by 29 runs. Rahul was declared as Man of the Match. The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Sunil Sambyal, Sanju and Vijay whereas the proceedings of the Inaugural function were conducted by Victor Sotra (Vice-President Christian Sports Organization).
