Porter killed, BSF jawan injured in ceasefire violations by Pak

JAMMU: A civil porter was killed while one BSF jawan suffered injuries in ceasefire violation incidents in Jammu region on Friday, police sources here said.
“A sniper shot was fired from across the border this evening at around 1700 hours at Chakla PP-2 in Pargwal area in which a civil porter was killed,” police sources said.
They said that the deceased porter was identified as Deepak Kumar, son of Jeeta Ram, resident of Bhalwal Bharth, Tehsil Pargwal, district Jammu
Meanwhile a BSF jawan got injured in cross border firing as Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control in Poonch district.
“A BSF Constable this morning suffered injury in his leg when Pakistan fired unprovoked on the LoC in Bhimber Gali area of Poonch,” a BSF official here said.
He said that the jawan was rushed to the Command Hospital Udhampur and his condition is stable.
“Own troops also retaliated to the firing effectively,” said an official.
Two days back an Army jawan also got injured in Rajouri when Pakistan firing fired unprovoked hours after exchanging sweets in Poonch on Diwali.
