JAMMU, NOV 9: Seeking a SIT probe into alleged brutal murder of SC Cell Block President of Panthers Party in Kulwanta block of Ramnagar recently, a battalion of Panther activists spearheaded by Chairman, Harsh Dev Singh and other leaders held a massive protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground, Jammu today. The agitated protesters sought immediate arrest of criminals involved in ruthless homicide and demanded adequate security cover for party leadership, who were being threatened by the goons owing allegiance to opposition parties, particularly the BJP.
While addressing the gathering, Harsh Dev Singh said that Panther’s leader was allegedly assassinated by the political opponents under a well-hatched conspiracy. He said that the deceased Dharam Chand, who was contesting Sarpanch election from Lehar Panchayat of Kulwanta Block had visited the Tehsil Office Ramnagar on Tuesday, 30th October, 2018 in connection with necessary formalities for filing nomination papers. “On the same evening, he was mercilessly assaulted by some unidentified goons, while he was returning to home and left unconscious in a pool of blood. He received grave multiple injuries on head and was referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu by doctors in an unconscious state. The deceased succumbed to his injuries in the Hospital without recovering from the state of coma,” Harsh said. He regretted that despite a reign of terror unleashed in Ramnagar by fringe elements, the local administration was allowing the ruffians and criminals to go scot-free in view of political clout enjoyed by them.
Lambasting the local administration for failing to address security concerns of the party leaders, Harsh Dev Singh sought SIT probe into the heinous act so as to unveil the truth. “Political conspiracy to eliminate Panthers leadership had been unraveled by cold-blooded murder of dalit leader. NPP will launch a massive agitation in case the conspiracy behind the killing was not immediately brought to fore and all those involved in the gruesome murder brought to book,” infuriated Harsh warned. He further appealed to the Governor to take cognizance of the worsening law and order situation in District Udhampur and intervene into the matter for breaking Police-criminal nexus particularly in Ramnagar, where a senior Police officer was also hand in glove with dreaded gangsters and providing them shelter and support to execute their nefarious plans
