Jammu, Nov 8: Pal of gloom visited to a family just hours before the marriage of a girl whose father was stabbed to death by three miscreants at K K Resorts on the fateful Diwali night.
The only fault of the deceased was that he objected to the abusive language and the scuffle broke out reportedly between the accused persons and resort staff over some issue inside the bar set up at the banquet.
Dilip Langar,60, objected to a fight between two groups of men in the parking space of KK Resorts, in Udeywala, where several other people were staying for the marriage of Langar’s daughter the next day, police here said.
They said that Langar, resident of Nagrota, was allegedly stabbed to death by miscreants, a day before the marriage of his daughter.
Police added that scuffle took place between accused persons and the staff of the resort over some issue inside the Bar.
“The accused persons consumed liquor in bar following which they had a scuffle with each other and later with the staff,” police here said.
They said that the deceased, who was in the resort to review arrangements of ‘mehnadi raat’ in view of his daughter’s marriage scheduled for tonight and was taking care of his guests, reportedly intervened and objected to the brawl requesting accused persons to maintain calm and do not use abusive language as guests were inside.
“The miscreants stabbed him with sharp weapon (kirch) and ran away leaving him in a pool of blood,” police added and said that he suffered fatal injury on the spot.
Some of them stabbed him and escaped from the spot. Langar was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead, a police official said.
All the accused persons identified as Shamsher Lal alias Kaandi, 24, son of Darshan Lal, resident of Raipur Jagir, Ashish Saini,26, alias Sethi, son of Shambu Saini, resident of Sarora and Jodh Singh alias Gillu, son of Late Karan Singh, resident of Akalpur were arrested.
A case under FIR no. 411/18 under sections 302, 4/25 Act was registered against them.
Relatives and friends of the deceased held a protest in the area demanding punishment for the culprits.
“Marriage was held in the evening at home and just few people, mostly family and close relatives, from both sides took part in it,” a close relative said, adding that Langar’s cremation would likely take place the next day.
The relatives also blamed the resort management for running the bar within its premises.
Several Kashmiri Pandit organisations have condemned the murder and failure of the police to prevent it.
Meanwhile SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta said that on Wednesday night murder case took place in KK Resort Jammu as some outsiders had come at marriage hall in drunkard position and started fighting and abusing each other.
