Army provides sports items for schools

Udhampur, Oct 10: Continuing with the initiative to promote sports in the remote areas of the state and garner interest of youth, the Indian Army distributed sports items to the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Lamberi, Chak and Government Middle School, Charyalla of Rajouri district.
The aim of distributing the sports items was to improve participation in sports activities by encouraging students hailing from far flung, remote and border areas to develop fondness for physical fitness.
The schools had sought assistance in terms of sports equipment which has been distributed by the Army.
Items like Cricket Bats, Cricket Balls, Stumps, Volley Balls, Volley Ball Net, Badminton Rackets, Shuttle Cocks, Badminton Net, Footballs, Carrom Boards, Skipping Ropes, Ludo and Chess Boards and Javelin were provided to the schools. The sports items were handed over to the School Principals in the presence of the school staff, Sarpanch of the villages and prominent persons of the area.
