JAMMU, SEP 12: Terming the boycott call of National Conference (NC) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) a political gimmick, Former Minister and Senior Congress leader R S Chib today asked party workers to remain fully prepared for forthcoming Panchayat elections.
Addressing a meeting of Congress workers at Badyal Brahmna, Chib asked them not to pay any attention to the statements of the NC and PDP leadership regarding boycott of the Local Bodies and Panchayat elections. “The decision taken by both NC and PDP is nothing but a political gimmick, which is most unfortunate,” he said.
Chib said that the Congress Party always stood for elections to the Local Bodies so that through decentralisation the power can reach to the grass root level. The boycott call given by these two premier parties is an attempt on their part to derail the Local Bodies democratic process, he added.
The Congress workers were very critical about the rise in prices of various commodities, especially Petrol, Diesel and LPG cylinders. The problems of the residents of border area of Suchetgarh especially availability of Power were also discussed.
Prominent among those who participated included Ch Mahinder Singh, Block president Suchetgarh; Ch Dewan, Inderraj Sharma, Tula Ram, Kanti Shrama, Bodh Raj, Payare Lal and Sahil Sharma, Social Media Incharge, J&K Congress.
