SRINAGAR, SEP 11: Registering an outright victory against SKAUST Kashmir, University of Jammu (JU) today reached the final of ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s Cup Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament hosted by the University of Kashmir, here today.
Now, JU shall take on Jamia Milia Islamia University in the title clash slated for September 13. Jamia Milia Islmia, in other semi-final, defeated the formidable side of Chandigarh University by a wafer thin margin of one-run.
Earlier, batting first, SKAUST Kashmir could make 114 runs, courtesy calculated bowling spells from Avtar and Sandeep Bakshi, who shared 2 wickets each. Rajesh Salhotra, Sumeet and Niranjan Singh took 1 wicket each for JU.
In reply, JU chased the target in 19 overs losing just 1 wicket. Deepak scored superb unbeaten 47 runs to remain highest run getter. Sumit and Rajesh also played sensible innings contributing 30 and 27 runs respectively. Later, Deepak was declared the Man of the Match.
Meanwhile, Registrar JU, Dr Meenakshi Kilam congratulated the team for qualifying for the final and wished good luck.
