GJ REPORT SRINAGAR, SEP 4: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to arrest 5 persons involved in ‘brutal gang rape and murder’ of a minor girl, who was found dead on weekend after remaining untraced for 10 days in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Those arrested include her step-mother and a step-brother. The minor had gone missing on August 23 following which her father, a resident of Uri, filed a complaint with the Police, SP Baramulla, Imtiaz Hussain Mir informed. “On receipt of the complaint, a case under FIR no 43/2018 under section 363 RPC was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, the statement of father of girl was recorded and it was found that he has two wives, one from local Trikanjan village namely Fahmeeda and another Khushboo, who is a non-local from Jharkhand. The missing girl was the daughter of non-local mother. He further stated that his wife namely Fahmeeda mostly works outside the home being involved in grazing, whereas his non-local wife mostly stays at home to cook food etc,” he added. “The SIT interrogated the suspects and during sustained questioning of step-mother of the deceased, a bone-chilling and horrible account of murder and rape of 9-year old child came to light,” Mir said. “It was found that the step-mother Fahmeeda had been nourishing a long standing grudge against second wife of her husband and her children, as she has the perception that her husband was more inclined and affectionate towards her (Khushboo) and children born of her than her (Fahmeeda). During questioning, she further revealed that her husband mostly spent time with her second wife and the girl was dearest to him among all children,” he added. She hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her step-daughter. “On the fateful day, Fahmeed, armed with a sharp-edged knife, took her step-daughter to nearby jungle. On her way, she signaled her son Sahil (step-brother of deceased) aged about 14 years to join her. Sahil came to forest alongwith his friends namely Kaiser Ahmad S/o Sikander Mir and Aadil Ahmad S/o Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Trikanjan (Boniyar). One more accused Naseer Ahmad Khan @ Guddo S/o Sher Zaman Khan R/o Lari, Trikanjan also joined them later,” he asserted. Detailing the extent of brutality, the SSP said, “While the step-mother strangulated her, the step-brother hit her head with an axe. Another accused gouged out her eyes with a sharp knife and then sprinkled acid on her body parts. Physical condition and preliminary forensic analysis of the body substantiated all these facts”. They dumped the body in bushes and covered it with twigs and branches of pine trees. All the material and weapons of offence, including axe and the knife have been recovered at the instance of the accused. All the accused have been arrested, the Police officer informed.
