DSS rues defacing Gen Zorawar’s statue

GJ REPORT
JAMMU, AUG 27: In a special meeting at Dogra Bhawan held under the leadership of President, Gulchain Singh Charak, the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) Executive Body postponed AGM to Sept 16 instead of Sept 3, 2018, due to Janamashtami festival. On the occasion, the members took strong note of defacing of statue of Gen Zorawar Singh calling it a deliberate act of instigation to cause intra-communal tensions. While asking people to stay calm they warned the administration to trace and book culprits besides repairing the statue at the earliest; which is presently a persistent explosive eye-sore and source of causing irritation and raise passions. The meeting also condemned the persistent apathy of the Government on continued deterioration and damage to the archives and artifacts in the Dogra Art Museum being caused by seepage and humidity during monsoon. They demanded that all the exhibits, kept in the basement and in closed Almirahs, should be put to public display for people. The DSS exhorted all the so called ‘leaders’ of Dogras and Jammu and public at large to visit the archives and Dogra Art Museum to see themselves as to how the history of their ancient past glory is being deliberately obliterated by the unconcerned Government. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included P S Gupta, Maj Gen Sunita Kapoor, Brig M S Jamwal, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Gambhir Das Singh Charak, Dr V S Sharma and Virender Singh Jamwal.
