Atal’s ashes immersed in Chenab

AKHNOOR, AUG 23: BJP leaders and workers immersed ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Chenab today.
Earlier, state BJP president Ravinder Raina along with other party workers joined the procession to take the ‘Asthi Kalash,’ carrying the ashes, to Akhnoor from the party office.
The ‘Asthi Kalash’ was taken in a procession from Trikuta Nagar and culminated on the bank of the Chenab.
Large number of party activists were waiting here, proceeded in the form of rally towards the BJP office near Telephone Exchange Akhnoor.
MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Akhnoor Rajiv Sharma, MLA Khour Krishan Bhagat and other senior leaders paid their tributes.
Ravinder Raina said, “Atal was the towering leader who pioneered ethics and moral values in politics. He was the true patriot to his last breath, served the country with his dedication and commitment. His death has caused an irreparable loss.” Jugal Kishore Sharma, said that Atal will always be missed and his memories will remain alive. Former PM was a great visionary, poet, statesman, mentor of millions, leader of masses who always stood by the side of ground level activists, Sharma said and added that all the activists looked upon him for guidance and advice.
Bharat Bhushan recalled the old memories of intellect and leadership shown by Atal especially during Doda Bachao Andolan. He also stressed on the simplicity and said that Atal used to give life saving suggestions in informal talks. He prompted all to follow the path shown by the former PM making him role model in politics.
After paying tributes at BJP office, all the party leaders carried the “Asthi Kalash” to Chenab in the form of rally where the “Ashes” were immersed in the waters of the river amidst the chanting of vedic hymns.
Suresh Sharma, Suraj Singh, Anuradha Charak, Anu Gupta were among other prominent BJP leaders present.
