Police SI among 3 policemen killed by militants in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR, AUG 22: Suspected militants shot dead a J&K Police sub-inspector in Larve village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday night while a constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot dead by militants earlier today in Kulgam.
Reports said that suspected militants barged inside the residential house of Mohammad Ashraf Dar at his native Larve village and fired upon him, resulting in his instant death.
This was the third such attack in south Kashmir today. Earlier, two policemen were killed in separate attacks in Kulgam and Pulwama districts.
Constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot dead by militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Wednesday, when people of the valley are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha.
A police spokesman said that the militants fired at 34-year-old constable Fayaz Ahmad Shah at Zazripora Kulgam. Fayaz, who had gone on leave to offer Eid prayers, died on the spot, he said, adding that a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the killing of Fayaz.
Police spokesman said Fayaz is survived by two minor daughters aged 5 and 2 years, wife and mother.
A case has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
Another Special Police Officer identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Shah was shot at in Pulwama district. He was declared brought dead at the hospital. (With UNI inputs)
