Yuva Rajput Sabha appeals to Governor to declare holiday on Sept 23

JAMMU, AUG 20: Yuva Rajput Sabha has reiterated its demand for public holiday on birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, which falls on September 23 and appealed to the Governor N N Vohra to issue necessary order in this regard.
Addressing a press conference here today, Yuva Rajput Sabha president Rajveer Singh drew attention towards the most important issue and demand of the entire Dogra community. Highlighting the contribution of Dogra rulers, he demanded announcement of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Rajveer said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a King who passed legislation against many a social evils unlike his counterparts in the sub continent abolishing untouchabiiity and sacked the priest of Raghunathan Temple when he found out that the priest had refused entry to the lower castes despite his explicit orders. He opened all public schools, colleges and wells to untouchables in 1931.
Yuva Rajput Sabha president also castigated Kashmir centric political parties for hailing Maharaja Hari Singh for introducing the concept of state subject to defend Article 35-A but not putting the demand of public holiday on birth anniversary of same Maharaja. He also demanded cancellations of pubic holiday on the Birth Anniversary of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in case the Govt fails to declare September 23 as holiday.
Urging Governor to immediate issue necessary order announcing public holiday on September 23, Yuva Rajput Sabha president threatened to hold serious of protest demonstrations if the Government does not concede to the demand.
