JAMMU, AUG 8: Director Agriculture Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan, accompanied by team of officers visited the farmers’ fields at Dansal, Badsu and other areas to monitor the progress of various Farmers’ Welfare Schemes and to review the punctuality and work culture of Dansal Sub-Division today.
Interacting with the farmers at village Badsu, Director Agriculture said that the farmers must keep some area of their land for the cultivation of pulse crops like mash, moog, soyabean, gram or peas which besides giving good returns will improve the fertility status of soils Kandi belt and coverage of fallow areas. He asked them to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom growing, seed production, vegetable cultivation, oil seed and pulse production to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.
Ealier while speaking during the review meeting of the staff of Dansal Agriculture Sub-Division he asked the field functionaries to make all out efforts to introduce different technological interventions and adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for the cultivation of various crops to improve the economic status of the farmers.
He asked them to keep them updated with the latest guidelines and norms of various programmes. Director also stressed on the staff to work for the development of the pulses and asked them to work for removing the constraints in pulse cultivation.
