BJP’s envy, Lal Singh’s pride

Jammu, July 24: The ‘achhe din’ might be a distant dream for the BJP and the worries are round the corner as the newly floated Dogra Swabhiman Sanghathan by the rebel BJP leader Choudhary Lal Singh brings nightmares to the saffron brigade especially ahead of 2019 Parliamentary Polls.
A pro-Jammu ‘apolitical’ outfit launched by the MLA from Basholi Constituency might be an envy for the BJP but it is a pride for him as he pledged to fight for the Dogras, their pride and rights of Jammu, which met discrimination allegedly at the hands of Kashmir centric leadership since decades.
With the launch of Dogra Swabhiman Sanghathan, Singh is all set to intensify his ongoing fight to “restore” dignity and honour of the ethnic Dogra minority of Jammu and Kashmir.
Since April 13 this year, when Singh was forced by the party high command to resign from the council of ministers for supporting the demand of CBI probe in the infamous and heinous Rassana rape and murder case, he has been addressing rallies across Jammu region, raking up pro-Dogra sentiments to emerge as pro-Jammu leader before 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Singh however, virtually hijacked BJP’s pro-Jammu agenda during his three-month long campaign and the party finding it difficult to oppose its own leader- who is their MLA.
“Singh is receiving unprecedented response and his new non-political outfit launch further added woes of the party,” reliable sources here said.
“Singh’s aim was to setup organizational structure of his non-political organization by roping in some hardcore BJP workers (behind the scene) and supporters before giving it political shape,” sources added.
Sources further added that on August 15, the Lal Singh headed Dogra Swabhiman Sanghathan through its outfit and supporters would mount pressure on BJP to accept their “list of demands”.
“Keeping in view the prevailing anger among people of Jammu against alleged “discriminatory policies” of the successive democratic elected governments of the State, Lal Singh is desperately trying to create a fear among ethnic Dogra minority that community is facing identity crisis,” sources maintained.
Although Singh, a former Congressman who had joined BJP before 2014 assembly polls, is avoiding confronting his own party but is trying to seize all opportunities to expose dubious role allegedly being played by Saffron Party leaders while sharing power with PDP.
Encouraged by May 20 Dogra Swabhiman Rally at Hiranagar in Kathua district, Lal Singh has started making efforts to rope in pro-Jammu groups on a common platform to give shape to a new regional political outfit before Lok Sabha polls to provide alternative to Congress and BJP in this region.
“BJP has already lost its sheen in Jammu region, which voted the saffron brigade to power by giving historic 25 seats particularly after its national chief Amit Shah’s visit, who lambasted PDP for ignoring Jammu,” sources said.
They maintained that Shah by criticising PDP, at the same time raised finger on BJP as well as the party equally shared power with its ally and worked jointly in the state, adding, “if it was PDP’s failure then it was BJP’s as well as they failed in restoring the faith of the people in all means even when they were having Prime Minister Modi headed government in the Centre.”
