JAMMU, JUL 22: The owners of vehicles in the state of Jammu and Kashmir have a reason to smile as they will start receiving Registration Certificates of their newly purchased vehicles at their door steps through speed-post.
The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) is going to introduce home delivery of vehicle registration certificates for all newly purchased vehicles in the state, sources said.
The home delivery of both Driving Licenses and vehicle Registration Certificates in the state would benefit around 25,000 people every month, who would receive the services at the comfort of their homes.
“All vehicles purchased after July 25, 2018, will have their registration certificates delivered through speed-post to their owners for which the protocol and logistic requirements have been finalised,” sources said.
Registration certificates of vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir would be sent to the homes of their owners through speed-post, they said, adding all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) have been directed to be in a state of readiness to ensure the launch of home delivery of Registration Certificates, from July 25.
The Postal department was also asked to put in place the necessary system by the said date.
The directions in this regard have been issued by the Transport Commissioner, Saugat Biswas to the concerned officers, they informed.
The Motor Vehicles Department is also proposing the establishment of Automated Driving Test Tracks across the State in all districts to enable the conduct of driving test on fully objective and scientific lines. This shall augur well in reducing road accidents by issuing driving licenses to only those who pass the scientifically Driving Test. The RTOs and ARTOs have been directed for immediately coordinating with the respective Deputy Commissioners for identification of suitable state land for the purpose.
