Taxmen launch innovative campaign for mass awareness, involve civil society

Jammu, Jul 19: The ‘Aaykar Jyoti’ on Thursday reached here and was received by the Income Tax officials and members of civil society as a part of Income Tax Day celebrations
This year being 158th year, Income Tax Day is also being celebrated here on 24th July and as a part of it, activities like lighting of torch, painting competition, plantations, and seminar will be held.
The lighting of torch named as “Aaykar Jyoti” was received here by the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Jammu, R N Sahay amongst the gathering of traders and other civil society members. They carried the torch through various markets of the city to make citizens aware of the contributions made by Income Tax Department in Nation Building.
Meanwhile the citizens were also made aware of their role and duty in payment of income tax to fund various development schemes launched by the Government of India.
Eminent personalities like Padamshree Balwant Thakur, Bana Singh, Paramveer Chakra and International Gymnast Krupali were part of the welcome of “Aayakar Jyoti” at Gandhi Nagar, Raghunath Bazar and Aayakar Bhawan, Jammu respectively.
All Trade Associations, Institute of Charted Accountants, Income Tax Bar Association were also involved to make it a grand success.
Earlier Mahaveer Chakra awarded Sansar Chand received the “Aayakar Jyoti” at Income Tax Office, Samba.
On the occasion S K Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu, M B Raizada, Income Tax Officer and Hardeep Singh, Income Tax Officer spoke highlighting Direct Tax collection and its contribution to the Nation Building and development process.
