J&K BSNL to improve network, speed for customers

Jammu, Jul 19: Jammu and Kashmir BSNL is all set to improve its network and speed for its customers by taking certain measures.
Chief General Manager, BSNL, J&K Circle, H K Verma here on Thursday said that to improve the network performance and speed, BSNL has planned up-gradation of back haul band width between Capital cities including Jammu, Srinagar and beyond state i.e Jammu-Delhi.
“More initiatives like expansion and up-gradation of optical fiber network by adding more than 2000 KM OFC routes, induction of more than 300 state of art transmission equipment i.e Converged Packet Access Network (CPAN) and Managed Packet Network (MNG-PANs) system which will facilitate the Gigabyte Ethernet connectivity to all places/ modes, installation of more than 800 new/ existing BTS sites, replacement of New Technology (NT) switch with Next Generation Network (NGN) Class IMS system will also be taken to facilitate customers with world class facilities such as Prepaid calling, video calls, limited fixed mobile telephony (LFMT), multi media video calling (MMVC),” he said.
He said that the telecom service provider is also planning for launch of about 10000 Fibre to Home (FTTH) connection.
Earlier the CGM said that BSNL is also ready with its Internet Telephony (VOIP) Service with brand name ‘WINGS’ to the customers.
“To use the service, a customer needs to install an ‘app’ on any of its smart devices having internet/ Wi-fi connection to make and receive calls from anywhere in India and abroad,” he maintained.
Verma asserted that the Wings service to registered customers will be made available from July 27 on first come first serve basis.
