Sensex ends at all-time-high of 36,548.41 on optimism about good

Mumbai, Jul 12: The BSE Sensex rallied for fifth straight session on Thursday by 282.48 points to end at a new peak of 36,548.41 on back of gains in financial and energy stocks as optimism around good corporate earnings amidst stronger Asian cues and fall in crude oil prices boosted the market sentiment.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 74.90 points to 11,023.20.
The Sensex rose by 159 points to 36,424.23 in the morning trade and then soared by 434 points to touch day’s high of 36,699.53, before closing positive at 36,548.41, climbing by 282.48 points as compared to its last close.
The Nifty registered day’s high and low at 11,078.30 and 10,999.65 points, respectively.
The sectoral indices such as Energy, Oil & Gas, Bankex, Finance and FMCG kept the rally intact for fifth straight session today, along with scrips of Reliance Industries, Wipro, L&T, HDFC and SBI.
However, selling in VEDL, Infosys, Tata MotorsDVR and Bajaj Auto restricted its further gains, brokers informed.
The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index lost 0.52 per cent while the Small-Cap index eased 0.06 pc. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex. (UNI)
