Injured in SF firing, student succumbs

SRINAGAR: An 11th class student, who was injured when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators, in north Kashmir district of Baramulla last month, succumbed in a hospital in Srinagar early Tuesday, official sources said.
They said Ubaid Manzoor Lone was critically wounded when security forces opened fire on demonstrators at Nadihal, Sopore, in Baramulla on June 25.
The injured was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where he succumbed. The students were protesting against the civilian deaths in the valley when the incident took place.
Police have already filed an FIR under Sections 307, 336, 144 of RPC in this regard.
Meanwhile normal life was on Tuesday crippled in parts of north and south Kashmir, including Kulgam and Shopian, against civilian and militant killings in different security force actions.
Mobile internet service remained suspended in entire south Kashmir though broadband service was working with low speed.
Shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads for the third day on Tuesday in Kulgam against killings three youth, including a girl, in security force firing on Saturday during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).
Normal life was affected in Shopian after two militants were killed on Tuesday in an encounter which ensued after security forces launched a CASO. Several people were injured in clashes with security forces in Shopian.
Violence in Shopian had no impact in Anantnag and Pulwama districts, where shops and business establishments were open and traffic was plying normally on all roads.
Life came to a grinding halt in Nadihal and adjoining areas in north Kashmir district of Baramulla after a youth, who was critically injured in the security force action one June 25 succumbed in S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here.
Traffic on different towns via Nadihal Sopore was badly affected and vehicles were being diverted through other alternative routes.
