Two arrested with fake currency, banned syrup

Jammu: Two persons were arrested alongwith contraband of banned syrup and fake currency worth thousands on Wednesday here on city outskirts.
“During routine checking, two persons were nabbed in Gangyal area on Wednesday morning,” police here said.
A check point was raised at Kunjwani and a pedestrian, who on seeing police tried to escape was chased and arrested.
On his search, a fake Indian currency of Rs 51,500 was recovered in the denomination of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes.
The arrested person was identified as Romesh Kumar of village Chak Bala, R S Pura.
Meanwhile in another incident, an motorcyclist was intercepted at Fountain Chowk in Greater Kailash area.
He was identified as Rakesh Kumar of Pallanwala, Akhnoor, Jammu.
“During his search, 175 bottles of banned onerex syrup was recovered from his posession,” DySP Rafiq Manhas, SDPO South said.
He said that cases have been registered against both the persons under relevant sections and investigations are in progress.
