Governor calls all-party meeting today

SRINAGAR: Governor N N Vohra has called an all-party meeting here tomorrow to discuss the situation in the wake of the implementation of Governor’s rule in the State, officials said today.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor’s rule yesterday, a day after the PDP-BJP Government collapsed as the BJP snapped its three-year-old alliance with the regional party citing “larger national interest” and “deteriorating security situation”.
The Governor also placed the legislative assembly in suspended animation till the proclamation of Governor’s rule is revoked or varied by a subsequent proclamation, according to a gazette notification. The six-year term of the current Assembly ends in March, 2021.
Meanwhile during his visit to the State Civil Secretariat Governor held extensive discussions with B B Vyas, Chief Secretary, to review all major matters which were pending approval of the Chief Minister and the Cabinet, when the change of Government took place.
Governor decided several important matters today, including a few pending postings and transfers.
As regards matters which are to be considered and decided by the State Cabinet, the Governor approved the establishment of the State Administrative Council and asked Chief Secretary to instruct the concerned Administrative Secretaries to finalize, within the next three days, all cases which require to be submitted to the Council.
Meanwhile a delegation of All J&K Secretariat Employees Union led by its President Ghulam Rasool, called on Governor N N Vohra at the Civil Secretariat today and apprised Governor about some of their important problems.
Governor urged members of the Union to work with zeal, honesty and dedication for the time bound disposal of their official work and assured timely resolution of their problems.
