Suspected militants shoot at, injure two persons in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 16: Suspected militants shot at and critically wounded two civilians in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Saturday night, a police spokesman said.
He said gunmen fired at two persons identified as Sheraz Ahmad Malik and Aijaz Ahmad Mir at village Trenz in Shopian district. The injured were rushed to hospital, from where they were referred to Srinagar, he said.
However, the gunmen managed to escape after the incident under the cover of darkness. Security forces have launched investigation, official source said.
Meanwhile militants attacked security forces at Lasjan area in the outskirts of the city today, injuring a CRPF jawan.
Dinesh Paswan, a constable in 29 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), sustained bullet injury in his abdomen, an official said, adding that he was admitted to a hospital.
“The injured jawan has been shifted to 92 Base Hosptial at Badami Bagh where he is currently under treatment,” the official said.
