Sikh Organizations J&K demands arrest of culprits behind Bargadi incident

JAMMU, JUN 14: Sikh Organizations of Jammu and Kashmir today addressed a press conference in which they stood in support of Insaaf Morcha which is going on at Kotakpura in Punjab regarding the sacrilege of Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib in Bargadi.
The press conference was held under the banner of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal Badal J&K, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar J&K, Sikh Student Federation International, Sikh Intellectual Circle Jammu and All India Sikh Student Federation.
All the organizations unanimously appreciated the genuine demands of Khalsa Panth that is, arrest of culprits behind the sacrilege (beadbi) at Behbal Kalah, investigation of Punjab Police firing at Bargadi over peaceful protest of Sikh sangat, release of Sikhs behind the bars who have completed their conviction period.
Through a resolution the above mentioned also demanded the release of Ansari Commission Report by J&K Government for killing of innocent Sikhs in 1989 during the Nagar Kirtan and give justice to the victims.
Those who were present in the meeting were S Jagjit Singh, president DGPC Jammu, Kuldeep Singh, vice president DGPC Jammu, Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary DGPC, Mohinder Singh, joint secretary DGPC, Manmohan Singh, cashier DGPC, Mohinder Singh, member DGPC and president Shiromani Akali Dal Badal J&K
In the meeting it was also decided that a group of Sikh sangat from Jammu will also join the Insaaf Morcha soon to support the genuine demands of Sikh sangat.
On June 1, 2015, a ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from the gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala in Faridkot district. On October 12, 2015, the torn pages of this ‘bir’ were found scattered in front of a gurdwara in the adjoining village, Bargari. In June 2016, there were massive protests after an unidentified man gunned down a Gurdev Singh, a dera follower, at his grocery shop at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village of Faridkot.
