Countering climate change

Dear Editor,
Through the medium of your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of the readers towards global warming and climate change that is considered as an emerging threat for the world today. Seminars and conferences are being held every year on this issue across the globe and even the United Nations Organization (UNO) is also working relentlessly on this very sensitive issue. This threat if not taken seriously has the full potential of leading to the destruction of world. The temperature of earth is increasing day by day, and this increase in temperature is now worrying the climate scientists who assert that this change is an important factor that links it to the theory of destruction. According to them, the cities and nations that are situated nearer to are in immediate danger. Some scientists have predicted that there is every probability of cities like Mumbai and Karachi getting submerged in sea waters by 2060. Under such circumstances the prediction that the third world war will result of water problem seems to be quite true. Therefore I appeal to the people at large as also to those at the helm of affairs in governance that there are many ways to counter this huge threat. Plants and plantation of trees, use of fossil fuel in industry, solid waste management system and overcoming the effect of greenhouse gases need to be resorted to in true letter and spirit.
