Rain brings respite in Jammu

JAMMU, JUN 8: Rain lashed Jammu city as the sky turned dark in evening, bringing much needed relief from the scorching heat wave that continued in the winter capital for the past few days.
Much to the respite of people, mercury which was hovering over 40 degree Celsius for last few days in many parts of state, came several notches down today. Today’s shower, which started late in the evening has brought down the day temperature 40.9 degree Celsius.
The rain amid heat wave has brought a sigh of relief for the residents of Jammu. “For the past few days, the weather was extremely hot in Jammu. Today’s showers have brought the much needed respite for the residents of Jammu,” said Rajinder Singh, a resident of Jammu.
“We are really happy, we were waiting for the rain the weather has become very pleasant,” said another local.
“It was really hot in the past few days, the heat made it very difficult to go out. The rain has brought relief to all of us,” said another local.
Several places in Jammu, including the main roads, lanes and by-lanes witnessed water-logging as these roads are full of potholes.
The rain was continueing till filing of this report.
