Vice President Visit: Grenade attack keeps police on tenterhooks

Jammu, May 25: he grenade attack by some unidentified terrorists here on Thursday night just a week before the high profile visit to Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu has left the security forces especially the state police to go into tizzy and remain on tenterhooks.
A grenade was lobbed on Thursday night at a policy gypsy at General Bus Stand here thus leaving three persons including two police personnel wounded.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have sounded red alert post attack as the Vice President is also arriving here to meet prominent scientists at IIIM on May 28.
According to police sources, security has been beefed up in the town while check points have also been strengthened.
“We have sounded alert and security grid has also been tightened post attack,” a senior police official here said.
He said that the Vice President will be visiting here next week and no security lapse is affordable in such circumstances.
“We have also rounded up nearly dozen suspects in grenade attack,” they said and added that they are being questioned and possibly, the case will soon be cracked.
