Unidentified terrorists throw grenade on police gypsy in Jammu, 3 injured

Jammu, May 24: A group of unidentified terrorists on Thursday night lobbed a grenade on a policy gypsy resulting injuries to three persons including two police personnel here at General Bus Stand.
“Three persons including two cops sustained injuries when a group of unidentified terrorists hurled a grenade on police gypsy late on Thursday night near Petrol Pump at General Bus Stand here,” police sources said.
They said that the grenade exploded in air after it was lobbed, which reduced its intensity and no casualty took place.
“The injured have been rushed to the hospital,” they added.
Inspector General of Police, Dr S D Singh Jamwal on reaching to the spot said that two policemen were injured in a grenade blast at Jammu Bus Stand on Thursday night.
He added that the policemen sustained minor splinter injuries in the blast.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that grenade was lobbed on the police party resulting in injuries to two cops,” said the IGP adding that investigations into it have been launched to ascertain the actual cause of the blast.
However, an eyewitness said that besides two cops, a civilian also suffered minor injuries.
The injured were identified as gypsy driver SPO Arjun,33, son of Dheroo Lal, resident of Shama Chakk, Selection Grenade Constable Shah Israr, son of Aman ullah, resident of Surankote and a civilian Jagdev Raj,42, son of Prem Chand, resident of Billawar, Kathua.
Protest broke out at the Bus Stand soon after the grenade attack amid anti-Pakistan slogans.
