Strike of Girdawars, Patwaris enters day 2

JAMMU, MAY 15: The ongoing strike of Girdawars and Patwaris of District Jammu, under the banner of AJKPA, today entered second day. On the occasion, a number of aggrieved employees held a protest demonstration at DC office in support of their long pending demands. Speaking on the occasion, the protestors said that the Government has adopted a step-motherly treatment towards them and is least considerate to mitigate their sufferings. Despite repeated reminders and requests made at various levels, nothing concrete has been done to resolve the long pending issues of Girdawars and Patwaris, which include enhancing Grade Pay of Graduate Patwaris, conducting timely DPCs, creation of GQ Circles and Patwar Halqas, ban on direct recruitment of Naib-Tehsildar, enhancement in allowances, sanctioning rent for Patwar-Khanas (Private accommodation), construction of Patwar-Khanas etc. The protesting employees further informed that they have decided to continue their strike until their demands are not fulfilled.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai, Raman Raj Sharma, Vinay Kumar and Amjad Malik.
