Earlier, it was reported that all the three slain militants are foreigners.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between security forces and protestors, who took to streets against the killings in Srinagar, where mobile internet of all cellular companies was suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours.
Life was also partially affected due to a spontaneous strike against killings in the summer capital, where people in some area in downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) alleged that curfew-like restrictions were imposed and they were being directed to remain indoors.
The spokesperson said that Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation (CASO) at Rampora Chattabal area of the city on Saturday following a tip-off about the presence of militants at 0500 hrs.
However, when the security forces were conducting CASO in the area, militants hiding there, opened indiscriminate firing at them at around 0700 hrs. Security forces also retaliated, ensuing in a fierce encounter.
Repeated announcements were made through public address system, asking the trapped militants to surrender. But, the militants didn’t respond and continued firing. “All the three militants were killed and as many CRPF jawans, including a Deputy Commandant Lambocha Singh, were injured in the exchange of fire,” he said.
Giving details about the local slain militant, he said before formally joining the outfit in April of 2017, Hamal was operating as an active accomplice of the militant network.
“Hamal was previously involved in many cases registered in Police Station MR Gunj Srinagar,” he said.
He said the identities of other two militants are yet to be ascertained.
“AK 47 rifles, magazines, UBGL, UBGL Grenades, Grenades, Wire cutter, Medical Kit and matrix sheets were recovered from the encounter site,” he said.
He said on the basis of materials recovered it is assessed that this group was intending to carry out some major attack which was foiled.
He said police has registered a case in the death of a youth after being hit by a security force vehicle in Srinagar.
“In this regard a case has been registered at Police Station Safakadal under relevant sections of law and proceedings have been initiated against the police vehicle/driver, involved in the accident,” he added.
