4 JeM militants killed, two security personnel martyred in Tral gun-fight

Srinagar, Apr 24: Four militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed and two security personnel were martyred in an encounter which ensued during Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the woods in Tral area of south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Tuesday, official sources said.
They said on a tip off Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir and CRPF launched a CASO in the forest area of Lam in Tral in Pulwama district following a tip off about the presence of militants. However, when the security forces were moving ahead in the forest militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons in which an army jawan was injured who later died in the hospital. As the security forces moved deep into forest contact was again established with the militants, ensuing exchange of fire again in which a security force jawan was killed.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid said all the four JeM militants hiding in the woods were killed in the encounter.
However, defence ministry spokesman was not available for give details about the operation. Meanwhile, helicopters and drones were pressed into service to locate the militants, sources said. Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has paid tributes to the two jawans of Army and Police who were killed during an operation at Tral today. The Chief Minister has extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the slain jawans. She has also conveyed her sympathies to the personnel who were injured in the incident.
