JAMMU, APR 21: The government has ordered transfers and postings of seven Police Officers including SSP Kathua with immediate effect.
A Government Order Number 536-Home of 2018 has been issued today by Principal Secretary Home Department, R K Goyal in this regard. The transferees include four IPS Officers.
As per order, M Suleman Choudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, has been transferred and posted as AIG, CIV, PHQ, against an available vacancy while Shridhar Patil, SP Kulgam, has been transferred and posted as SP Kathua.
Shailendra Kumar Mishra, Commandant IR-2nd Bn, has been transferred and posted as SP Shopian vice Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar, who has been posted as SP Kupwara.
Shamsher Hussain, SSP Kupwara, has been transferred and posted as Commandant JKAP-13th Bn, against available vacancy while Javid Iqbal, SP PC Srinagar, has been transferred and posted as SP Sopore vice Harmeet Singh Mehta, who has been posted as SP Kulgam vice Shridhar Patil.
SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary has been transferred in the light of the nationwide protest against the rape and murder of an eight-year-old child here.
Reports say that this was a routine transfer. The transfer does, however, come in the heels of the police charge sheet which accuses police officers in Kathua of taking bribes to cover up the rape and murder case.
The police charge sheet says that after the child was raped and murdered, accused Sanji Ram got in touch with local policemen and paid bribe to save himself and his fellow conspirators from legal action.
The charge sheet names two policemen, Sub Inspector Anand Dutta and Constable Tilak Raj, of having accepted these bribes and attempting to cover up the crime.
