JAMMU, APR 14: The State Football Academy (SFA) of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) started its maiden Inter-Academies League (Jammu Cluster) on the lines of Junior I-League of All India Football Federation (AIFF) to provide exposure to the talented youth undergoing training at district level.
The competition got underway at MA Stadium here yesterday with opening match played between SFA Jammu and SFA Kathua wherein former emerged 2-1 winner. Madhav Sharma and Paras Bassan were scorers from winning side while Ritesh Singh was lone scorer from Kathua.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Chief Sports Officer (CSO) of JKSSC, Abdul Qayoom, who was the chief guest. President J&K Football Association (JKFA), Zameer Ahmad Thakur was guest of honour. The event was also graced by international footballer, Arun Malhotra, Surinder Singh Bunty, Ramesh Chander, Fayaz Sofi and Ashok Singh.
In all, 22 teams from 20 districts shall compete in three age groups of under-13, under-15 and under-18, a handout issued here today informed.
Further, these 22 teams have been divided in eight clusters and winner of each cluster shall take part in final round of the league which is likely to start from May 1.
