Jawan martyred in Pak firing on LoC

Jammu: An Army jawan on Wednesday attained martyrdom as Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked on forward posts along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 1645 hours in Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control,” defence spokesman here said.
He said that Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively.
However, he said that in the exchange of fire, Naik Thorat Kiran Popatrao was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries.
Naik Thorat Kiran Popatrao, 31, belonged to Village Fakirabad Wadi, Post office Ladgaon, Waijapur Tehsil, District Aurangabad, Maharashtra and is survived by his wife, Aarti.
Naik Thorat Kiran Popatrao was a brave and sincere soldier.
The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty, said the spokesman.
Meanwhile earlier in the afternoon, Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing along LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri.
Two jawans attained martyrdom as Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector here on Monday evening.
