Counter insurgency operations for peaceful summer ahead: DGP

Jammu, Mar 24: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid on Saturday said that counter insurgency operations are on in the Kashmir valley for peaceful summers ahead.
“Counter insurgency operations going on in Kashmir to ensure peaceful summer season,” Dr Vaid told reporters here on Saturday during his visit to Jagti Township to express condolences with the family of Deepak Thusoo, who attained martyrdom in Kupwara encounter.
“These operations are very important, so that Kashmir breathes its sigh of relief and summer is peaceful,” Dr Vaid said.
His statement came in the backdrop of Anantnag operation in which security forces neutralised two foreign terrorists.
On killing of seven (five in Kupwara and two in Anantnag) terrorists in two separate encounters in the last 36 hours, the DGP said, “Kashmir saw bloodbath in the last two years. The operations are very important for a peaceful summer”.
“People in valley are looking forward for peace, as of blood has been spilled in violence in last two years,” he maintained and added that, “It is high time for those who are promoting this militancy may realise and let peace return to this grieved valley”.
Lauding the role of security forces, Dr Vaid said, “the state is moving towards peace only because of sacrifices of brave soldiers of Jammu and Kashmir police, Indian army, CRPF and other para military forces. The peace is because of these sacrifices”.
On Pakistan’s role in vitiating atmosphere by sending armed men and ammunition in J&K, the DGP said, “this have been said number of times, if it’s (militants and ammunition) not coming from Pakistan, where else its coming? I don’t need to repeat this again and again, it’s very clear that the kind of war like stores which are been recovered are coming from across the border”.
Meanwhile, paying condolences to martyr’s family, the police chief tweeted, “it was heartbreaking to meet young children and other family members of our martyr Sgct Deepak Thusoo who gave supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists. Department will do everything within its powers to support the family. May God give strength to the family.” (UNI)
