Poonch admin provides financial relief to border shelling victims

POONCH, MAR 18: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar alongwith SSP Poonch Rajiv Panday and other officers from police and civil administration rushed to the spot Davitaa Balakote, a forward and vulnerable area of LOC in Balakote sector to provide relief and to ascertain the situations after the tragic deaths of five persons belonging to same family in early hours of today’s morning.
Heavy exchange of shelling in Balakote sector at seven o clock resulted in injuries to two and lost other five precious human lives of same family.
The team of officers led by Deputy Commissioner visited the house which was completely gutted down due to shelling and consoled with family members.
Deputy Commissioner handed over Rs. 1 lakh as immediate financial relief in favour of Noureen, age 12 years, Mehreen age 6 years (NOKs) who after first aid were referred to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment.
While speaking, he said that benefit under SRO 43 and financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh would be processed soon. Meanwhile he appealed to the people of vulnerable areas to shift their families to safer places identified by district administration.
The DC said although the process of construction of 40 community bunkers are at finishing stage very soon the process individual house hold bunkers in targeted areas will be started for the safety of civilians.
