Navratras to begin from today Amid tight security

Jammu, Mar 16: A week-long Navratras shall commence with fanfare in this winter capital of the state and holy Katra town in Reasi district amid tight security arrangements from March 18.
Security forces have stepped up vigil in Jammu and Katra ahead of Navratras, sources here said.
“Security has been beefed up at several vital points including popular market places for smooth and incident free conduct of Navratras,” a senior police official here said.
He said that the fool proof security arrangements are significantly heightened at the Jammu airport, railway stations, bus stands and other vital installations across the region.
Sleuths of Crime Branch and Police alongwith Paramilitary forces have also been roped in and the security unit has been asked to form a strategy in connection with potential threats to vital places like temples and other important places.
Local police have been asked to remain extra vigilant and Para-military forces have also been deployed in several parts of the city for quick response in cases an emergency situation arises.
Adequate number of security personnel has been deployed to ensure that a strong security grid is put in place.
In Jammu people rush to famous Bahu Fort Temple commonly known as ‘Bawe Wali Mata’ to pay the obeisance as they rich belief in the deity believing that it protects them from all evils.
Paramilitary and police personnel are patrolling and frisking people at important points in Jammu city, which is thronged by thousands of devotees every year, especially during Navratri.
“There is much fanfare in Katra during Navratra festival and the inflow of tourists also rises manifold during those days. We have made proper security arrangements and assisted by the para-military forces,” a police officer said.
Besides security, special focus is also laid on smooth and gala celebrations during the Navratra festival, said an official, adding, “bhawan and other temples have been decorated and illuminated in the town.”
“Flower from different countries including Britain, Switzerland, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Dubai, have been delivered to Katra for decorating the ‘Mata Ka Darbar’ at Bhawan,” he added and said that the high quality flowers remains fresh for around 10 days with rich fragrance.
