DDC suspends 31 officers

Doda, Mar 15: In a surprise check of various offices in Doda district District Development Commissioner Doda Bhawani Rakwal today placed under suspension 31 government servants including officers and officials. According to two separate orders No DCD/PA- 105/17/2604-29 dated 14.03.2018 and No DCD/PA-105/17/2631-46 dated 14.03.18 copies of which are in possession of Greater Jammu, DDC placed under suspension 31 government servants including 05 officers and 26 officials of various government departments and institutions. Surprisingly, five of the government offices located in Bhagwah block were found locked by the team of officials deputed by the DDC to check the attendance of the officers and officials. These include two offices of Veternary, one each of Horticulture and Agriculture and one office of FCS & CA department. Besides, four other offices were found locked in Chiralla and Bhalla tehsils. The five officers who have been placed under suspension include the officers of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, F,CS&CA, Sheep Husbandry and Horticulture departments in Bhagwah block of the district. Notably all the five offices of the suspended officers were found locked at 11 a.m. when the team of inspectors visited these offices. Other officials who were found absent by the visiting team of officers include AEE Irrigation and Flood Control, Bhalla, three AEAs at Agriculture Extension Office Bhalla, Headmaster GHS Puneja, a teacher in GHSS Chiralla,2 orderlies of GHS Puneja2 teachers of Middle school Bajja in Chiralla, In Charge Govt. Sub-centre Binola, 2 employees of sub-centre Puneja and In charge ISM dispensary AYUSH Bajja. In yet another surprise check in Tehsil Kahara 11 oficals including a Dental Surgeon, Medical Officer and teacher of GHSS Malanoo were found on unauthorised absence from duty. Likewise TSO Kahara, Storekeeper F.CS &CA Kahara, Panchayat Inspector BDO Office Kahara, AAO of RDD Kahara and Jr. Assistant and orderlyof RDD Kahara, FMPHW Health Sub-centre Kahar and FMPHW of PHC Kahara were found absent from duty and were placed under suspension. It is pertinent to mention that absenteeism and truancy in government offices in Doda district is hampering the delivery of services to the masses especially in rural areas. Civil society across the district has hailed the decision of the DDC for initiating action against the employees who attend offices as per their whims. With officers and officials remaining absent from duty, the people suffer for want of prompt services to them. ” Absenteeism in government offices and institutions has badly affected the work culture and this trend must be arrested,” said the DDC.
