J&K BJP ‘unhappy’ with Drabu’s sacking

Jammu: The state unit of BJP on Monday expressed ‘unhappiness’ over sacking of Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu from the Council of Ministers by the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for his alleged remarks that Kashmir is not a political but social issue at a function recently in the national capital.
“The decision of sacking Dr Darbu is unfortunate and taken in haste,” a senior BJP leader here said.
“We will take up the matter at appropriate forum and also with our coalition partner PDP,” he said.
However, terming the statement of Dr Drabu in the interest of the nation, he said, “whatever he had said is a reality and we have to accept this,”
The development of sacking Drabu comes after Dr Drabu, speaking at an event in New Delhi on Friday, had said: “J&K is not a political issue as far as I can see. They have been barking up the wrong tree for the last 50 or 70 years by talking about the politics of it, that the political situation has never improved”.
“We seriously need to look at in terms of how it is a society that is in search for itself,” he said at the event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Meanwhile the State Cabinet meeting which was scheduled to be held on Tuesday has been postponed and now has been re-scheduled for March 20, 2018 at 1100 hours.
