Kishtwar town observes complete shutdown

Kishtwar, Mar 10: Hours after a hotelier was shot dead by some unidentified gunmen, Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday observed total shutdown. As per reports the traders community expressed resentment over killing and observed complete shutdown. Hotelier Ishtiyaq Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar was shot dead near Jamia Masjid Chowk on Friday night. Besides traders, transport also remained off road while people of entire Kishtwar have expressed anger over the killing of a businessman. Police have registered a case under FIR number 58/2018 under section 302 of RPC while some suspects have also been rounded up. Meanwhile a Special Investigation Team has also been constituted to crack the case. According to sources the detained suspects were identified as Asif Hussain, resident of Hadyal, Adil Hussain, resident of Bhagwan Mohalla and Azad Hussain of Sangrambhatta. Pertinent to mention here that late last evening unknown gunmen shot at Ishtiyaq reportedly from a close range. An eye witness said the locality around the Jamia Masjid was under power curtailment when the killing took place and locals after hearing gun shots rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood. SSP Kishtwar, Abrar Chowdhary, Dy SP DAR, SHOs of Police Station Kishtwar and Chatroo also reached the spot and shifted the victim to DH Kishtwar where doctors declared him as brought dead. The police got the autopsy conducted this morning, which was later handed over to the relatives for performing last rites. Nimaz-e-Jinaza of Ishtiyaq Ahmed Dar was offered at the Sprawling Showgan in which thousands of people participated. The burial of the slain man also saw participation of thousands of locals. DDC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana and SSP Kishtwar also remained present at the graveyard.
