Fresh avalanche warning issued in J&K

Srinagar, Mar 2: As the upper reaches received fresh snowfall during the past 24 hours, a fresh avalanche warning has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir, including on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
An official spokesman on Friday evening said that on the basis of information received from Snow & Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE), the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued medium danger avalanche warning for the next 24 hours for Baramulla, Gulmarg, Furkian-Z Gali, Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdhar, Bandipora, Kargil and Gurez Sector.
Meanwhile, low danger warning has been issued for Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Anantnag, Kulgam, Budgam and Leh districts, apart from the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
The State Disaster Management Authority has advised the people living in these avalanche prone areas not to venture in these spots and take precautionary measures.

On the basis of information received from the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE), the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) today issued Medium danger avalanche warning for Baramulla, Gulmarg, Furkian-Z Gali, Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdhar, Bandipora and Kargil areas, an official spokesman said.
The people living in these avalanche prone areas have been advised by the authority to take precautionary measures, he said.
Director, Disaster Management, Aamir Ali appealed the people living in avalanche prone areas and higher reaches, to adhere to avalanche warnings issued on daily basis through print and electronic media.
The officer advised the people not to venture in these areas and to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile a 25-year-old man died and another was injured in an avalanche in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir while bodies of three persons buried under an avalanche last month were recovered today, police said.
An avalanche yesterday struck Hassangam-Malangam area in Tulail area of Bandipora district, resulting in injuries to two persons, a police official said.
The injured persons were shifted to sub district hospital at Tulail where one of them succumbed, the official said.
He said the deceased has been identified as Abdul Aziz Beigh, while the injured person has been identified as Haleem Beigh (23).
Meanwhile, joint rescue team of police, army and state disaster response force today recovered bodies of three persons who came under an avalanche in Kupwara district on February 24.
“Bodies of three persons who went missing on February 24 after they were hit by an avalanche at Guchibal Behak in Kupwara district were recovered today by the joint rescue team of police, SDRF and army,” a police spokesman said.
He said the deceased were identified as Ghulam Mohammad Lone (37), Mohammad Altaf Mir (25) and Bashir Ahmad Ganaie.
