JAMMU, FEB 24: Two professional sides of Kashmir today won their respective matches to qualify for next round of the 1st Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament underway at GGM Science College ground, here.
The Real Kashmir side trounced the department team of J&K Forests XI 2-1. Bernard brought in the first blood for Real Kashmir striking in the 13th minute. The early lead was well maintained by Real Kashmir. It was only in the later stages of the match that Forests levelled the lead in 64th minute through Sameer Hussain but only to find Kamlesh netting the ball for the all important goal in the 80th minute.
Meanwhile, in other match of the day, Lone Star blanked another professional side of Jammu United
2-0. Amanjot (35th) and Karan (71st) were the scorers. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Ricky Kumar, Rocky Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Koshal Sharma, Suresh Gupta, Rakesh Kumar, Dheeraj Meenia and Mohinder Kalsi (Physio).
Earlier, a known footballer of the state, Muzamil Mehmood along with JKFA president, ZA Thakur and Sheikh Mehmood (president DFA Jammu) interacted with the teams.
