Peerkho is one of ancient temples of Jammu: MLA

JAMMU, FEB 14: Jammu East MLA and party Chief Whip Rajesh Gupta inaugurated the 3rd Shivratri Mela at Peerkho Mandir today. Mahant of Peer Kho Ravinath Ji, The president of the Gorakhsha Samiti Raj Kumar Gupta, Shashi Khajuria and officials of the Tourism department were also present on the occasion.
Anoop Mittal, president of the Kanak Mandi Traders Association; Sham, president Veer Marg Traders Association; Rajesh Diwan, president Lower Hari Market Traders Association; Vipin Gupta, Senior Executive Member Kanak Mandi and Varinder Gupta member Hari Market Traders Association were also present.
During the mela, cultural items were presented by Urja Singh Group.
Rajesh Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, announced the construction of amphitheatre from his CDF. He said that Jammu is known as the City of Temples and Peerkho is one of the most sacred and ancient temples of Jammu. This mela on the occasion of Shivratri is a regular feature in the calender of the State Tourism department. Gupta said that in the coming years more and more attractions would be added to the mela to make it a great socio cultural event. He said that Jammu has always displayed remarkable harmony among various social and religious groups that speaks volumes about the noble character of the people.
