BAJ suspends work for 2 days, demands stern action against anti-national forces

JAMMU, FEB 12: ammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu today suspended work for two days against the attack on Army at Sunjwan and slogan by Akbar Lone in the Assembly and asked the Government of the State and the centre to take stem action against the anti-national forces as well as against the neighbouring country Pakistan to prevent them from repeating similar acts in future.
On the call of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, the lawyers abstained from working in the High Court and Subordinate Courts in Jammu today on 12th of February, 2018, to protest the terrorist attack on Sunjwan Army camp sponsored by Pakistan, whereby five (5) Indian soldiers were martyred besides some civilians also having lost their lives. The lawyers took out a procession in the court premises raising slogans against Pakistan and the anti-national forces responsible for the attack. The protest was led by the President of the Bar B.S. Slathia, Sr. Advocate and other office bearers of the Bar namely Sachin Gupta, Vice President; Advocate Prem N. Sadotra, General Secretary; Advocate Himanshu Sharma, Joint Secretary and Advocate Chetan Misri, Treasurer.
Speaking on the occasion Sr. Advocate Slathia strongly condemned Pakistan for carrying on the policy of enmity against India and harbouring terrorists on her soil and using them to threaten life of the people and security forces in our State. Pakistan, which has failed to provide democracy and development to its people, has no business to disturb peace in the J&K State. He strongly condemned the role of National Conference Legislator and former Minister, Mohd Akbar Lone for raising pro-Pakistan slogans inside the Assembly on the day when terrorists from Pakistan were killing innocent citizens and Army personnel inside the Sunjwan Army Camp at Jammu. Slathia appreciated the role of leadership of the party to distance itself from the conduct of the said legislator in raising pro-Pakistan slogans in the Assembly but at the same time strongly urged the National Conference leadership to immediately withdraw the said legislator from the Assembly seat.
The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has taken a very serious view of the failure of the present coalition Government of Jammu & Kashmir in saving the lives and liberty of the people and security forces working in the State. People on the borders and LOC, have suffered in the form of loss of lives of human beings, cattle and destruction of the homes because of firing from Pakistan. There have been repeated terrorist attacks on the Army and police in the State and Government has failed to completely check the perpetrators of such attacks. Shockingly, the State Government facilitated lodging of FIR against the Army personnel who were forced to resort to firing in self defence when they were suddenly attacked by stooges of terrorists in the Valley. How the forces, particularly the Army, can be expected to work for maintaining security of the State when the Government also turns hostile towards it.
The Bar Association has also taken a serious view of the fact that the attack on the Sunjwan Army camp in the heart of Jammu city was not possible without support of some sleeper cells, besides the Rohingyas in the vicinity of Army camp. The Government has facilitated such elements to make their foot hold in the Jammu city and it is sure to pose a serious threat to the security of people in capital city of Jammu in future also. (JNF)
