GJ REPORT
JAMMU, FEB 9: The Chairman Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal (JPVM) Inderjeet Khajuria held a meeting with Vikramaditya Singh, ex-MLC and Trustee Dharmarth Trust and discussed about the measures to be adopted for promotion of tourism in Jammu city and subverts. Besides promotion of Border Tourism at Suchetgarh border on the pattern of Wagha border, they also discussed regarding development of Raghunath Temple on the pattern of Golden Temple Amritsar, in view of the fact that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti too has proposed the development of Raghunath Temple to ensure sufficient footfall of tourist and pilgrims in Jammu, which will be a step to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination.
While putting up suggestions, Khajuria said that frisking at the main entrance is creating hurdle in entering of pilgrims, which results in discouraging them to enter the Temple. The frisking point should be shifted to near inner gate which will also provide the space to the pilgrims to stay in. He said the inner space should be provided to stay so that more than 1000 pilgrims can easily transit inside the premises of temple.
He said that more options with latest technologies should be explored to attract the pilgrims to increase the influx of tourists and pilgrims for Jammu. He also demanded installation of Lazer Sound and Fountain Music with the advanced technology to attract the pilgrims and tourists. He said that we have to provide more and more attractive events to the people, which will encourage the tourism in the Jammu.
Stressing on the development on Raghunath Temple, Inderjeet Khajuria said that a committee under the name and style of “Shri Raghunath Ji Temple Development Committee” should be constituted and the members of Tourism trade should be included in majority, to discuss and suggest the measures to develop the Temple on the pattern of Golden Temple.
In view of past experiences, he urged that there is ample scope of improvement of internal management of Raghunath Temple, which should be discussed thoroughly.
