Jammu, Feb 5: A national level hockey coach among three persons were killed and three women players got injured in two separate incidents across Jammu region on Monday.
“A car on way from Jammu to Poonch ferrying coach and players on Monday morning rolled down on the road near Manjakote in Rajouri,” police here said.
They said that the coach identified as Sham Lal Sharma,65, son of Hari Chand, resident of Poonch died in the mishap when a car they were travelling in rolled down at Dehri Rehylote in Manjakote while three women players suffered injuries and they have been hospitalised.
“The coach had accompanied the women to Jammu to participate in the competition,” they added.
Meanwhile in another mishap, a car (JK03E-7060), on its way from Ramban towards Srinagar on reaching Nachlana, Ramsoo, the driver lost the control and the vehicle rolled down into 250 feet deep gorge from the national highway.
“Two persons died on the spot,” police said.
They identified the deceased persons as Mohd Maqbool Sofi, son of Gulam Hassan Sofi, resident of Keribal, Anantnag and Gowhar Hussian Khan, son of Gulam Rasool Khan, resident Kazibagh, Anantnag.
Police party from Ramsoo Police Station and medical team reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to mortuary.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident near Nachilana Ramsoo.
Mufti has conveyed her sympathies with the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister has directed the authorities to ensure that traffic laws are enforced on the roads with strict compliance.
