Monitoring team of ICAR-Directorate Jabalpur Visits SKUAST

JAMMU, FEB 4: A monitoring team headed by Dr Bhumesh Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur visited at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of Jammu to review ongoing research activities of All India Coordinate Research Project on Weed Management on 3rd and 4th February, 2018. Dr Kumar alongwith his team member Dr V K Choudhary visited at Research Farm, AICRP-Weed Management Centre and reviewed ongoing research progress. Dr B R Bazaya, Incharge AICRP-Weed Management Centre, SKUAST, Jammu and Dr R Puniya, Junior Scientist explained all the details of ongoing research progress of experiments. Dr Kumar appreciated to AICRP team to start collaborative work on organic weed management in high value crop in rice-Potato-french-bean cropping system, weed management in conservation agriculture in rice-wheat system, sprinkler irrigation and weed management in wheat. Monitoring team also visited at AICRP Lab cum weed museum and suggested various points. An interactive meeting was organized with Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST, Jammu and discussed various issues related to AICRP-Weed Management Centre. On the next day monitoring team also visited at Advance Centre for Rain-fed Agriculture, Dhiansar and farmers field. During the visit, Dr Anil Kumar, Associate Director Research also highlighted about research progress related to weed management in rain-fed areas of Jammu region. Dr Susmita Dadhich, Dr Gurdev Chand, Pradeep Kour, Ashu Sharma and other concerned officials of AICRP-WM team were also present on the occasion.
