1 killed, 48 hurt in Doda road accidents

DODA: In two separate road accidents a woman died while 48 persons were injured in Doda district today. As per reports a matador bearing registration number JK06-6959 on way to Thathri from Gandoh met with an accident near Kahara on Thathri-Gandoh road. The vehicle carrying 36 passengers rolled down the road and landed at the bank of Kalnai stream.
Locals of adjoining Kahara market and police personnel rushed to the accident spot and started rescue operation and shifted the injured to Thathri hospital .
However, a woman identified as Kulsooma Begum , 45 wife of Safdar Ali R/o Aichar , Gandoh had died on spot .
The injured were shifted from Thathri hospital to District hospital Doda in view of the deficient medical services at Thathri hospital and serious condition of the injured.
16 critically injured were later air lifted to GMC Jammu for advance treatment. The injured were identified as Amarjeet singh 40, Din Mohd 35, Shamala Begum 34, Mool Raj 35, Mohd Ilyaas 25,Kashif Hussain 27,Kewal Kant 26, Saif Din Sheikh 26, Shabir Ahmed 35, Tariq Ali 32, Zaffarullah 29,Fareed Ahmed 33, Akshay Rao 33,Paramjeet singh 24,Sayra Begum 36,Pamkaj kumar 28,Basha Begum 27,Waseem Akram 25,Taseen Begum 35,Rifat Begum 24, Mubeena Begum 27, Khursheed Ahmed shah 40, Anil kumar 28, Naik chand 45, Irfan 26, Talib Hussain 45, Farooq Ahmed 48, Rahul Singh 32, Asha Devi 45, Kalyan Singh 50, Beer Singh 52, Mubeena Begum32, Mohd Yousaf 35,Din Nath 62,Pushpa Devi 60.
In yet another accident 12 persons were injured when a tempo traveller bearing registration number JK06-3868 on way to Dharra village from Doda met with an accident at Doda -Ghat road near here.
The injured were shifted to D.H Doda by the locals and police .The injured were identified as Mohd Shafi 40,Sapna Begum 28,Zahida Begum 27, Jahan Mohd 36,Premkali Devi 31, Rani 31, Tansh 06,Pyaanshu 13, Rhenashu 08,Mohd Saleem 22, Biyasa Devi 35, Sanjay Kumar 30.Two critically injured were air lifted to GMC Jammu along with the 16 critically injured of Kahara matador accident.
The district administration though preoccupied with Republic Day preparations immediately swung into action and arranged chopper to air lift the critically injured to GMC Jammu.
“The administration provided cash relief of Rs. 25,000 each to the critically injured and Rs. 10,000 each to other injured persons of the twin accidents,” said ACR Tariq Hussain Naik
Meanwhile MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar visited GMC Jammu to enquire about the condition of the injured . He appealed to the GMC administration to provide best medical care to the critically injured.
MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta also expressed his concerns on the loss of life and grievous injury in the road accidents and demanded that adequate ex-gratia be sanctioned to the family of deceased woman in Kahara accident.
Abdul Majid Wani Former Minister has also expressed great shock over the death of a woman in Kahara accident.
Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy District president NC extended his sympathies with the victims of both the accidents and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured persons.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed sympathies with the passengers of a Doda bound bus which met with an accident at Kahara village.
She has also expressed grief over the death of a woman in the accident.
The Chief Minister has directed divisional administration to ensure specialized treatment to all the injured passengers. She has also directed airlifting of the critically injured to Jammu for specialized treatment.
