Unemployed ITI Electrician Diploma Holders demand employment policy

JAMMU, JAN 12: Unemployed ITI Electrician Diploma Holders Association Doda has demanded that the State government should come out with a concrete policy for providing employment to the youth holding ITI Electrician Diplomas at the earliest. This demand was raised by the Association spokesperson Anil while addressing media persons here today.
The spokesperson said, we have great hope in our government and humbly request to issue necessary instructions to the concerned for framing a concrete policy for providing employment to ITI trained electricians at the earliest. He informed that the Association has been submitting multiple representations in this regard since 1997 and running from pillar to post in the Power Development Department but till date the governments have failed to approve vacancies in government sector. He said though the government had approved the engagement of candidates trained in ITIs in Electrician trade as causal labour by the PHE and PDD in cabinet decision No 116 /4 dated 11-05-2006 in terms of Government Order No 239.F of 2005 dated 09-11-2005 issued by the Finance Department, yet no posts were approved and the issue remains unresolved. He demanded a job policy on the pattern of ReT, Rehbar-e-Roshni. He said that in 2005 there were about 7000 vacancies while only 2500 youth had been trained as electricians by it is and now some of those trained youth have crossed the upper age limit for government services.
He said that the Association had even submitted a memorandum to the CM Mehbooba Mufti during her recent visit to Doda besides submitting memorandum to ML A Doda and Dy CM J&K who assured to initiate efforts to address their genuine demands.
