JAMMU, JAN 12: Jammu and Kashmir Bank Academy and Shaheen Football Club won their respective matches to advance in the 11th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Christian Welfare Association at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the first match, J&K Bank Academy outplayed equally good Param FC 3-2 via tie-breaker. Earlier, the match ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time. In the tie-breaker, J&K Bank Academy emerged winner as Umar, Bhanu Pratap and Shivam successfully netted the ball. From Param FC, Ajuat and Amritpal Singh could only beat the guard at the net.
Meanwhile, in other match of the day, Shaheen FC defeated Churchill FC 2-0. Shaheen took the early lead when Ashish Mehra netted the ball very effectively on getting a pass from Vivekpal Singh from right flank in the very sixth minute of the match.
Sailing on the early lead, Shaheen Club improved the score in 38th minute with Rajinder Singh beating the goalkeeper.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Rakesh Kumar, Rocky Sharma, Sanjay, Dinesh, Hilal Ahmed, Vijay Kumar, Ricky Kumar and Mohinder Kalsi.
Fixture: JKSRTC shall take on Jammu United at 1 pm while J&K Bank shall be playing against Kanwal Sports Anantnag in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 3 pm.
